Kristy and Andy’s wedding got me thinking about how sometimes it’s all about the timing. I’ll explain more about this at the bottom of the post. But first, their photo story.

The Monday before Kristy and Andy’s wedding we hashed out a “plan B” in the event there was rain. Come Saturday, as I arrived for wedding prep, the sun was shining and I was pretty positive that we would get through the day dry. So we went forward with “Plan A” and headed to Federal Hill for the first look.  The soon to be newlyweds wanted something  creative and unique for their first look. With the Baltimore panoramic skyline, I thought having the couple back to back and then turning at the same time for their reveal would be neat. They went with the idea and I LOVED seeing their expressions as they turned from heel-to-heel to toe-to-toe! A few moments after their first look, our attention turned to a big red “X” and red balloons next to us on the hill. This marked the spot where a proposal was about to happen. Sure enough, within moments there was a guy on one knee and a ring on his lady’s finger. Kirsty, Andy, and their wedding party let out some cheers for the newly engaged. For Kristy and Andy it was like looking back into the past at the engagement that brought them to their wedding day, and for this couple it was like seeing into the future of their wedding day to come. After a few fun photos with the wedding party on the hill, the weather took a turn and it started to rain. Kristy and Andy rolled with it and posed for a few photos under a garage covering. The light rain passed long enough for us to finish some great portraits at the American Visionary Art Museum.

Kirsty and her dad lined up for the outdoor ceremony with umbrella in hand. Lightning could be seen over the water and the skies were ominous. But not a drop of rain fell during their outdoor ceremony. Then, moments after everyone filed inside, the skies opened up with a massive downpour. Hooray again for amazing timing!! The celebrating began inside the museum as the thunder rolled outside. Kirsty and Andy had a great dance party and an amazing dessert spread that was made with love by their family and friends. Before the cake cutting, Kristy mentioned night photos, so we dashed outside. Once again, talk about perfect timing. We nailed magic hour. Looking back, there were so many times where if we had waited a few minutes longer to start something, we would have completely missed the moment. When planning a wedding it’s easy to get caught up in the way we think it should go, but when we go with the flow, look at just how magical it all can be.

Cheers Andy and Kristy! Here’s to rolling with it!

Thank you to all the great vendors who made their day possible.
