Susie and Richard’s Turf Valley Wedding– The first time I met and photographed Susie was when she was a bridesmaid in her brother Jason and now sister in law, Meghan’s wedding. Their wedding was held on a crisp October day, right as the fall foliage was peaking. As I drove out to meet the girls for getting ready photos, I came across a line of trees bursting with golden yellow leaves. I thought to myself, next fall, I have got to get one of my couples out to this spot. Fast forward to the day Susie, Richard, and I sat down to discuss what they wanted to do for engagement photos. They wanted photos during the fall. I mentioned the spot I had in mind. Not only did they know the spot with the line of beautiful trees, Richard had originally planned to propose there!
Richard proposed Thanksgiving morning which was too late in the season for fall foliage. So he instead took Susie up a trail at Oregon Ridge park. When they reached a beautiful overlook and gazebo, he popped the question. Susie said yes : ) So for Richard and Susie’s engagement session, we started at the beautiful line of trees and ended where the wedding story began, at the engagement spot.
Susie and Richard’s wedding story unfolded at Turf Valley in Ellicott City Maryland. After a busy morning of wedding prep, Susie and Richard shared a first look. It was a sweet moment for the two of them to take a deep breath and be present with each other. Their ceremony took place outside on the lawn which was buzzing with lots of chatter and laughter before their ceremony. Most of the laughter came from the two flower girls who giggled and bounced off each other all the way down the isle. Richard swooned us all when he twisted and then dipped Susie for their first kiss as husband and wife. The reception was held in the Cameo Ballroom and was filled with great friends, family, and beautiful spring blooms. Congrats Susie and Richard!
A special thanks to everyone that helped with Susie and Richard’s wedding:
